Open Letter from Ten Eight
Dear Ten Eight Users
We are excited that you have chosen to help change the world of commercial real estate data by signing up with Ten Eight. Our goal is simple – we want tenants and brokers to make better and faster decisions when searching for office space by turning live tour feedback into measurable data.
Ten Eight’s vision began to take shape at the beginning of 2011 in our three person (at that time) tenant brokerage firm in Atlanta, GA. We used to spend 20-30 minutes each day sitting around the break room discussing how cumbersome the office searching and decision making process for tenants actually was. We were tired taking those necessary but dreaded marathon office tours with our clients only to have them forget half the information and two-thirds of the buildings that they visited. By the end of it all, the clients and us were just happy that a decision was finally made - albeit not always a purposeful or measured one.
Out of that frustration was birthed the first version of the Ten Eight App - a simple excel spreadsheet that allowed our clients to weight the importance of the eight main attributes of an office building, and then rate each of those attributes for the buildings after they toured. We got some great feedback from our clients and the two main things they told us were - you need to make this mobile and you need to allow other brokers to use this. Some 3-4 months later, we pulled the trigger and stroked a check to begin the mobile development of the Ten Eight App.
Contrasted sharply with those early days of crude spreadsheets, Ten Eight has taken on many more features then we had originally thought possible. Our ultimate vision is to have every Class A and B building in North America, and then the world, ranked by commercial real estate brokers and their clients, and thus creating a community of brokers that can leverage the data from these tours to better educate their themselves, their clients, brokerage firms, and landlords on what attributes are truly important to tenants and how specific buildings compare to each other from a tenant's perspective. If brokers will commit to use Ten Eight on their tours, then our community can create a truly data rich environment for ourselves and our clients.
